Desert Ink Studios — Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions summarize the policies, requirements, and important information contained in Desert Ink Studios’ legally binding waivers. Clients will review and sign the full waivers in-person or digitally before receiving services.

This webpage is provided for transparency and convenience so clients may familiarize themselves with studio policies prior to their appointment.

1. Definitions 

  • “Studio,” “we,” “our,” “us” refer to Desert Ink Studios (Space Angler Tattoos LLC, DBA Desert Ink Studios).
  • “Client,” “you,” “your” refer to the person receiving a tattoo service.
  • “Artist” refers to the contracted or employed tattoo artist performing the work. 

2. Age & Identification Requirements

  • Client must be 18 years or older, with valid government-issued ID for verification.
  • ID must be presented at every appointment.
  • Failure to provide valid identification may result in refusal of service and applicable rescheduling or lost-time fees. 

3. Tattoo Risks & Client Health Disclosure

Tattooing involves inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to:

  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Allergic reaction to ink, metals, latex, or antiseptics
  • Variations in healing or pigment retention
  • Skin irritation
  • Potential changes in appearance due to aging, weight changes, sun exposure, or lifestyle
  • Body-specific responses (e.g., lymphatic response, fading, blowouts) 

Clients must disclose any medical conditions that could affect the tattoo process or healing (such as diabetes, compromised immune system, blood disorders, allergies, pregnancy, or skin conditions).
Clients may decline to receive a tattoo if they feel medically unfit to proceed.

4. Assumption of Risk, Release & Indemnification

By receiving a tattoo at Desert Ink Studios, clients acknowledge and voluntarily assume all known and unknown risks associated with the tattoo procedure.

Clients agree that the Studio and its Artists are not responsible for complications arising from:

  • Natural healing variations
  • Aftercare neglect
  • Allergic reactions
  • Skin sensitivities
  • Client health conditions
  • Outcomes arising from the client’s body chemistry or lifestyle 

The Studio is not responsible for issues resulting from external factors such as sun exposure, environment, or improper aftercare.

Clients agree to indemnify the Studio against claims, legal expenses, or damages arising from the tattoo procedure, except in cases of proven negligence.

5. Tattoo Design, Estimates & Artistic Variations

  • Final tattoo appearance may differ slightly from drawings, references, or stencils due to the unique qualities of each client’s skin.
  • Color, shading, vibrancy, healing, and line crispness are influenced by skin type, placement, and personal healing characteristics.
  • Clients understand they may not see their final design until the day of the appointment.
  • Changing designs, placement, or concept after scheduling may result in additional charges and may require rescheduling. 

6. Design Fees, Deposits & Scheduling Policies

Design Fees (Deposits):

  • All design fees and deposits are non-refundable.
  • The design fee equals the artist’s hourly rate multiplied by the length of the longest scheduled appointment.
  • Design fees are applied near the end of the tattooing process (final or second-to-last session). 

Rescheduling Rules:

  • One (1) reschedule is allowed per four (4) scheduled appointments.
  • Seven (7) business days’ notice is required for an accepted reschedule.
  • If proper notice is not given, the design fee is forfeited and a new deposit is required.
  • Multiple reschedules may result in an increased design fee equal to the artist’s hourly rate for lost tattoo time.
  • If the originally booked artist becomes unavailable, design fees transfer to another Desert Ink Studios artist but will not be refunded.
  • Design fees expire after one year if unused. 

7. Touch-Ups / Follow-Up Policy

  • Touch-ups are not included in the tattoo cost.
  • Due to natural healing differences, tattoos typically require a follow-up session.
  • All follow-up or touch-up work is performed at the Studio’s regular hourly rate.
  • The Studio cannot guarantee results affected by the client’s lifestyle, sun exposure, or aftercare adherence. 

8. Tattoo Estimates & Artist Rates

  • All tattoo quotes are estimates, not final pricing.
  • Time required may vary based on complexity, client skin, pain tolerance, and other factors.
  • Artist hourly rates may change without notice; however, the Studio will do its best to honor prior rates for sessions scheduled within reasonable intervals (typically 2–3 weeks apart). 

9. Refunds

Desert Ink Studios does not offer refunds for:

  • Tattoos
  • Design fees
  • Deposits
  • Gift cards
  • Time spent or sessions completed 

10. Photography & Media Release

  • The Studio may take photos of completed tattoos for portfolio or marketing use.
  • Clients may request no photography by informing the artist before the appointment. 

11. Privacy & Identification Data

  • Driver’s license/ID information is used only for lawful purposes such as age verification and recordkeeping.
  • The Studio securely stores ID information and does not share it unless required by law or with client consent.
  • Providing false or misleading identification may result in refusal of service. 

12. Surveillance Notice

Clients may be recorded on in-studio security cameras. Surveillance is for safety, training, and security purposes only.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah.
Any disputes will be handled exclusively in Utah (Davis County) courts.
